NORTHERN TRUST BEGINS COMMUNITY CONSULTATION ON SUGAR BEET SITE

24th October 2012

Northern Trust Company Ltd, which is working with the landowner to regenerate the former Sugar Beet Facility at Allscott near Telford, has launched the next consultation stage with the distribution of a leaflet to residents and businesses surrounding the site.

The leaflet is intended to offer residents information about the site and asks the community for its initial views on how the former Sugar Beet site can be redeveloped.

Northern Trust has already met with a number of community groups and councillors to gauge their thoughts on the site, and is now turning its attentions to local residents and the wider community.

A spokesperson for Northern Trust said: “We are pleased to be at the stage where we are asking for wider views on the site and would encourage people to complete the comments form which accompanies the leaflet, and send it back to us by the 5 November. This is an important site and establishing its future is a decision which needs the community’s input. We hope that residents will let us know their views now and over the coming months, which will help us to shape this site into one which benefits the surrounding area and beyond.”

The comment form responses will inform the initial options for the site which will be on display during a two-day public exhibition on 19 and 20 November. Comments will also be used to lead the discussion of a Community Liaison Group which will meet with Northern Trust to discuss the proposals in greater detail.

Residents can visit www.shawbirchroad.co.uk for details of the events and to download the leaflet.
