NORTHERN TRUST COMPLETES SALE OF LAND AT DARWEN TO PERSIMMON HOMES

Northern Trust Company Ltd is pleased to confirm that they have recently completed the sale of a 16.6 acre site at Spring Meadows, Pole Lane, Darwen to Persimmon Homes.

Northern Trust gained outline planning permission on the site back in 2016, which including 134 homes, open space and an ecological mitigation area. The site was subsequently marketed for sale by Savills and Persimmon Homes were identified as the preferred developer.

Persimmon Homes consequently gained detailed planning permission for 168 new homes on the site back on October last year.

Mike Grindrod, Director at Northern Trust commented “We have worked closely with Persimmon Homes on bringing this new development forward, which will bring investment into the area.”

John Roocroft, Managing Director of Persimmon Homes Lancashire, said: “This project will bring eagerly-anticipated homes for local people to a site which has already been identified as appropriate for residential development, creating an extension of the town centre. It is an exciting opportunity for us to deliver housing, jobs and amenities for Darwen, breathing economic life into the area and laying the foundations for a thriving new community.”

Plans for the site include a range of two, three and four bedroom homes and the development will also offer significant investment in the local economy, with Persimmon contributing around £1.8 million to local primary school and highways improvements.

Work is due to start on site in the coming months and any interested purchasers can register their interest on the Persimmon Homes website.
