Funding News – North East Business Support Fund

Small and medium sized businesses in the North East are being urged to take advantage of a new £1.8 million pot of funding to help them develop and grow.

The North East Business Support Fund is managed by Northumberland Business Services Ltd (NSBL). NSBL is a Department of Business, Innovation and Skills approved enterprise agency that works to assist pre-start, new and existing business by providing information, advice and support on running and developing a business.

The Business Support Fund is designed to help SMEs in the North East region that are looking to grow in turnover or staffing. The fund (successor to the previous Leadership and Management Advisory Service) provides tailored support, including advice and funding for eligible SMEs and social enterprises that have potential for growth and are based in the region.

The service (funded by £1.8 million of European Regional Development Fund finance) provides grant support giving businesses the opportunity to access specialist help which they can use to develop their growth and profitability.

Up to 40% funding is available, to a maximum of £1,400 for business improvement projects.

NBSL will be taking applications from businesses until the end of March 2013.
