NORTHERN TRUST WELCOME SHEPHERDS WALKS TO ROTHBURY

Northern Trust Company Limited were pleased to welcome Shepherds Walks Ltd to Rothbury Industrial Estate, following the completion of the letting of the 2,250 sq ft, unit 1B on a 3-year lease agreement.

Shepherds Walks are on an online business that has been established for a number of years. The business comprises of 4 key areas; Shepherds Walks covering various day walks and events; Shepherds Walks Holidays providing guided and self-guided walking holidays; GPS Training, the largest independent UK retailer of outdoor GPS units; and Capricorn Mohair Socks which they manufacture in the UK and sell to both wholesale and retail.

Shepherds Walks was set up in 1999 by Jon Monks, who at that time was a full time Hill Shepherd in Northumberland. Jon commented about the move to the new premises “As an online business, having the chance to have a blank canvas to build the offices / warehouse to our own specifications was a massive step forward for us. The unit at Rothbury was ideal and just what we had been looking for. The moral of the staff has been lifted to have such a nice working environment. With our range of different revenue streams it has enabled us to continue to grow despite the current economic climate.”

Northern Trust completed a £400k refurbishment program on Block 1 at Rothbury Industrial Estate, which was in a dilapidated state. The works to the building included demolition of low level office space and ad hoc extensions, replacement of personnel doors, fire exit doors and electrically operated loading doors. The works to the building split the unit into two providing Unit 1B which is now occupied by Shepherds Walks Ltd and Unit 1A measuring 4,268 sq ft which is still available. The units form part Rothbury Industrial Estate, which offers 17,777 sq ft of workshop / warehouse accommodation over 11 units.
